  • Children, Youth & Family Services

Our Children, Youth & Family (CYF) services are intensive, child-centered, and family-focused. Each plan is individualized to meet the unique needs of the child and family, with an emphasis on collaboration, resilience, and growth.

    Play-Based Services

In our dedicated play therapy rooms at the Ivy Center, children have a safe environment to explore emotions, practice coping skills, and process experiences. Using evidence-based play therapy techniques, children learn to express themselves, improve relationships, and build confidence.

    School-Based Services

BBHW partners with every school in Brookings County to provide counseling directly in school settings. This reduces barriers to care, meets youth where they are, and strengthens collaboration with teachers and school counselors. Services are available across all grade levels, helping youth access support in real time.

  • Systems of Care (SOC)

The Systems of Care program is a wraparound model designed for at-risk youth and their families. Available to individuals up to age 21, SOC supports those with identified needs in one or more domains: basic needs, education, housing, health, safety, community, social supports, or emotional needs.

SOC case managers partner with schools, agencies, and families to assess needs, connect resources, and coordinate services. By addressing challenges holistically, the SOC program promotes safety, stability, and long-term success.

  • Early Childcare Collaborative

The Early Childcare Collaborative is a partnership between BBHW, the Brookings School District, and the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains. This program provides social-emotional learning and support for our youngest learners. By nurturing emotional development alongside academics, children enter kindergarten ready to thrive both in the classroom and in life.

  • CARE Program

The CARE program helps individuals build the physical, emotional, and intellectual skills needed for healthy, fulfilling lives. CARE services are designed to recognize both strengths and challenges, supporting growth in all areas of life.

    Services include:

    Individual counseling

    Medication management

    Case management

    Group programming

    In-office and home-based visits

Through CARE, clients are supported in creating meaningful connections, developing skills, and building resilience for long-term recovery.
